RE: Advice on windshield sun shade for driving

Carefree makes electric sun shades in various sizes. I have three in my coach. The main problem with them is they rattle while the coach is in motion. The full shade you mentioned perhaps is the one manufactured by MCD. I saw a demo at the RV show in Pomona CA. I don't think they are that pricey.

Dentmac
My point was that the MH is much more used than what is reflected by the 6k miles on the odometer.

RE: Anyone try to negotiate a shortsale with your bank ?

Not to get into a slug fest, but the same thing is happening in the credit card industry. All these folks who went nuts charging their cards to the max (while the rest of us used restraint) are now asking for forgiveness on the debt, and the banks are supporting the requests, asking for bail out $$ to offset the loss.

RE: RV Show at the Pomona Fairplex

Actually I looked at the spec sheet in the coach Don. 330 is a ridiculously low number. Per the sales brochure, 37200 is the GVWR and 47200 is the GCWR, so the towing capacity is actually 10k. The CCC is the difference between the base weight(UVW) of 29000 (which includes fuel and engine fluids), plus people (i.e. sleeping capacity(SCWR) of 4 x 154 lbs each), plus water (88 gals x weight of water per gallon of 8.34), and of course cargo, subtracted from 37200. Using the poster's figure of 330, the numbers simply do not add up.
The reason I know this is I specifically asked the salesman for the CCC, because this is a frequent topic here as well as GAWR, which in the Tribute's case is 14,200 front and 23,000 rear.

RE: RV Show at the Pomona Fairplex

I looked at the Tribute as well today. I specifically examined the weight ratings and noted that the CCC was in the thousands and not the hundreds. I also noted the difference between the GVWR and GCWR was around 8 thousand pounds.
From the sticker in the bathroom:
Coach with a full fuel tank: 29,000 and change
add people, water, and "stuff" the GVWR is 37,000 and change.
The RV show was a ghost town today. The number of vendors in the "tent" were very limited. I guess I'll wait to see my favorites at Quartzsite.

I have been having the same problem using Outlook 2003 for my email. I hope Firefox gets the problem fixed.

We stayed at Birmingham South last spring. Nice place but the trains run all night and are very noisy.

RE: How to check tire pressure

This requires changing the stems but this company has solid products. I ordered the stems and isolators and they work great. Using this system eliminates the need for the braided extensions.

RE: Back in the 50's - 60's I

It is relatively simple to convert an internal combustion engine to CNG. CNG is the most abundant resource we have in this country.

I have been running Firefox 3 and have had no problems at all. It works on both my laptop with XP SP3 and my desktop with Vista Home Premium.

RE: 2 Dishes 1 Receivers?

Congrats on your new digs. Now you MUST buy a boat. I have DIRECTV not Dish and also have a vacation home in Havasu. I get all my local channels even in the motor home all the way back to the east coast. Most locals except the east and west coasts are spot feeds and are only good for a few hundred miles from the home locale. At least that is the way DIRECTV works. Have fun.
PS Lake Havasu is a fun place. Lots and great restaurants and of course the Sunday morning flea market.

RE: 50 AMP surge protectors

Has anyone looked into this surge protector?
The beauty of it is that it incorporates the transfer switch as well.
If you already have the transfer switch then you're spending money on something you already have.
I'm a novice in this arena, but the way it was explained to me is that the Surge Protector/Transfer switch unit will protect the coach from dirty power from the generator also. I can't imagine that it is a useless piece of equipment if Fleetwood only installs them on the American Eagle line.
Thanks
Jerry

RE: Tow Bars.....Opinions, Please

I would recommend the Blackhawk as well for your application. GM's curb weight and the actual weight will be different. I would be safe and go with the 10K rating.

It is the same unit that Fleetwood installs in its high end rigs. The beauty of it is that it incorporates the transfer switch as well.

RE: Can I tow a Duramax

I suggest that you research the weight that your potential motorhome can safely tow. Make sure both vehicles weigh under the GCVWR. Diesel engines are very heavy.

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

Please describe the combination of vehicles more completely. Troopers are too busy to "hassle" retirees in motorhomes, speaking from personal experience.
Maybe this was the cop or state offical the found the remains of Bigfoot in Ga.
Huh?

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

Yes there are bonehead troopers/officers, just like there are marginal employees in any profession. However, after 31 years of pulling dead people out of cars/trucks/and yes motor homes I can attest that there are valid reasons for strict law enforcement. Most of us try to "do the right thing" most of time. Yet there are those who have to be saved them from themselves.
